Challenge 6: Crossing the Marshes

After the requirement - heavy brief yesterday, here's something a little more general. HOWEVER, you have to do an environment for once!

Taken from conceptart.org illustration of the week:

This weeks topic is Crossing the Marshes. Your task is to illustrate someone or something crossing some kind of marshlands.
It is important that you include enough information for the viewer to be able to understand what's going on.
Give me a story.

Color scheme, characters, creatures are all up to you.
Focus on the narrative, your illustration could be for video games, role-playing games, tabletop games, movies, television, book covers, children's books,
magazines, commercials, posters, anything you can think of that features illustrations.
Try to decide in what context your illustration will be featured and make it the ultimate marsh-crossing!

This weeks requirements are as follows:
- Something must cross some kind of marsh

Happy painting!

Challenge 5: "She who speaks"

Taken from CGhub Character forge 2D:

Name: O'oro'te ''She-Who-Speaks''
Race:
Tarshian (Amphibious Humanoid)
Role:
Grand Ambassador of the Tarshian Empire, She Who Speaks
Gender:
Female
Age:
Ooooooold by human standards, though Tarshians that are in excess of a thousand years old are still able to breed and perform all the duties of their younger counterparts.

Era:
Space-Age, Space-Faring Futuristic
World/Setting:
Galactic Confederacy: A highly evolved system linking inhabited planets together through huge space stations and faster-than-light transport vessels.
Tools / Artifacts / Equipment / Weapons:
A staff of office. Partially/fully hidden water-circulation apparatus.

Clothing / Dress:
Tarshian ceremonial dress is lush, detailed, and expansive, with designs and colors that are reminiscent of their swampy home planet. Multiple layers of brightly colored fabric are typical, usually heavily brocaded and embroidered- sometimes with simple designs, other time with full tapestry depicting their ancient stories and sagas. The clothing is neccesarily huge to hide/accomodate the fact that Tarshians are forced to wear water circulation apparatuses to keep their skin cool and moist at all times when they aren't on their home planet.
Physical Characteristics

Height:
7'0
Stature:
Thin, Willowy, with pronounced secondary sexual characteristics (The amphibious equal to large hips/breasts in human females.)
Hair:
None
Eyes:
White

Personality:
Serene
Characteristics/Traits
: (ENTP - Extraversion/Intuition/Thinking/Perception) The Tarshians are a majestic, ancient race of space-faring amphibian humanoids. Through careful regulation and diplomacy they have grown to become one of the most powerful races in the Galactic sector, made wildly rich by their trading know-how and the inexhaustible resources of their lush home planet. Ambassadors are elevated almost to diety-status in their culture, so O'oro'te has all of the aspects that required for her job: intelligence, erudition, serenity, and wisdom. She carries herself well, fully aware of the importance of her position.

Quite a detailed brief tonight! Happy painting!

Challenge 4: King of Hell

Taken from conceptart.org character of the week;

This week we want you to search your darkest side and create a new King of Hell. It's pretty much open to you own interpretation as always, however we would like you to avoid typical 'Devil' cliches such as hoofed, red skinned, horned and pitchfork wielding. This guy (or girl if you're that way inclined) is the personification of evil, so make sure it shows.

The Guidelines:
  • Can be any gender
  • Must have a crown
  • Must avoid typical 'Devil' cliches (as outlined above)
  • Does not have to be humanoid - but please no gelatinous blobs.
 Happy painting!

Challenge 3: Aoife and her mechanical guardian

Taken from concepart.org character of the week:

A Legend tells of a powerful enchantress who will tilt the fate of the world in either good or bad. Whichever side she chooses, will become the dominant force. However she is still young, and it yet to take one path or the other. As a completely neutral being, many have tried to sway her to their sides but have failed. Some have even tried to kill her, so that the legend never has the chance to come true for either good or evil. Because of this, she was given a mechanical guardian to protect her - a being that does not know good or evil itself, only that she must be protected at all costs.

Your challenge is to create a design for BOTH Aoife and her guardian. Remember, they are neither good or evil. Aoife does not have to be a child, but she should also not be an adult woman. The mechanical guardian cannot be a living thing, and can be powered by anything you like, magic, steam, electricity....
The Guidelines:
  • Aoife must be young and female
  • Can be any time/setting
  • Can be any genre
  • Remember that she is neutral, try to represent both good and evil within her.
  • Must be both character
  • The guardian cannot be a living thing. It must be mechanical

Challenge 2: Fuzzy bombs

Taken from conceptart.org creature of the week:

this week were going to be designing a creature that has a self defense method that is very out of the ordinary.

these cute little guys live in giant populations and will sacrifice themselves individually to help protect their populace as a whole.

they do this by having the ability to explode at will, creating a huge blast radius that can take out any predator that threatens the rest of their adorable, and otherwise helpless, brethren. as to how they create such an explosion? does it create a chemical reaction in its body that produces a highly volatile compound? does it fill up air sacks inside itself until it bursts!? does it do some other crazy thing that has no basis in physics but is hilarious? all of these are possibilities and the choice is up to you!

requirements this week...

- the creature must be small and furry. no larger than an average rabbit. and should be very cute looking!

- the creature must have a way of exploding. ( doesn't have to be realistic, get creative!)

- if you can also show it exploding you get extra credit ( which just means you get everyone saying "hey dude way to do something cool! hahaha!)

Challenge 1: Guardian of the flame

Taken from conceptart.org character of the week:

Every four years, during the olympics, a flame is carried and lights a beacon at the opening ceremony. However what most people don't know is that for the rest of the time during the four years, this sacred flame is protected by an ancient guardian, tasked by the gods of Olympus.

This week's task is to create this ancient being, who protects the flame from those that might steal it.

The Guidelines:
  • Can be any gender
  • Consider HOW they might protect the flame
  • Must be flame related
  • Does not have to be humanoid - but please no gelatinous blobs.
